Sexual Assault Awareness Month Campus Events
Sexual Assault Awareness Month has been officially recognized since 2001, but the movement to prevent and end sexual violence has been a decades-long battle, which gained widespread momentum in the 1970s. Denim Day and Take Back the Night have become hallmark events globally and at Sac State for sexual assault awareness and violence prevention.

Teal Tuesdays
April 11th, 18th, & 25th from 11am - 2pm, The Library Quad
On Tuesdays in April, wear teal to show our commitment to raising awareness and ending sexual violence. Students will lead engaging prevention education activities for the campus community. Free resources and giveaways will be available. Presented by the Office of Equal Opportunity.
Denim Day
April 26th from 12:00 - 2:30pm, The Library Quad
Denim Day has been observed worldwide since 1999. It began as a response to an Italian Supreme Court decision overturning a rape conviction because the victim wore tight jeans. On the last Wednesday of April, millions of people show their support for survivors by wearing denim. On April 26th, wear your denim jeans, jackets, hats, and whatever denim you have to stand in solidarity with survivors. Visit Student Health and Counseling Services and WEAVE in the Library Quad from 12:00 - 2:30pm to decorate and display denim to show that clothing does not equal affirmative consent.
Sac State Take Back the Night
April 26th from 4:30 - 6:30pm, The Library Quad
Take Back the Night started as a protest in March of 1972 when women began marching on their college campuses to demand a less violent future. Join us on April 26th, 4:30 - 6:30pm in the Library Quad for Sac State’s annual Take Back the Night event. This annual campus event will host a resource fair and campus march to empower survivors and call for an end to sexual violence. Register to attend Take Back the Night.
