Jesse Fenton Jumps in to Help Passengers in Need
A long day of travel that ended with a dead car battery left one traveler at their wits' end. Luckily Jesse Fenton (he/him) was around to assist:
"Travel days are exhausting at best and yesterday was no exception. After a long day of trains, buses and planes, I arrived at PDX with a sigh of relief – soon enough, I would be home. I walked to my car in the parking garage, only to discover that I had a dead battery. I contemplated leaving my car there for another night but realized I would have to make the trek back to the airport eventually to retrieve it.
I walked over to the elevator and pressed the information button on the courtesy phone. To my surprise, someone answered, even though it was after 11 p.m.! When I asked about a jump, they let me know someone was on the way. Within 10 minutes, I was powered up and ready to drive home.
Jesse – the gentleman that helped me – was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I am so grateful for the quick, convenient and free service that was offered. You have no idea how relieved I was. Your care is what makes PDX the best airport in the world. Thank you!"

What's New with PDX Next: Baggage Service Office Relocations and Crane Pick
Baggage Claim: The first relocations in north baggage claim – baggage offices for United Airlines, Delta Air Lines and American Airlines – wrapped up last week. Their new homes are located behind the north elevator.
On the south side, you'll see a temporary wall going up near baggage carousels three and four, part of preparations for more temporary baggage services offices in the future. These changes are part of new main terminal work, structural upgrades and the construction of new offices, restrooms and escalators. You’ll see more relocations in the area in the coming months. The north restrooms will also close at some point, likely this spring.
Crane Pick: On Tuesday, March 14, from 1 to 3 a.m., expect some areas on Concourse C to close as cranes move equipment to the roof and areas below are blocked off for safety. This will include make-up areas one and two, the pet relief area, restrooms just past the south bypass, part of the area at the east end of Concourse C and the Alaska lounge. During most of this time, the south bypass will remain open. At the end of this work, there will be a 5- to 10-minute window where the south bypass will close, and spotters will be present to assist travelers.

Snow Stories: Kudos to Café Yumm! and Port of Portland Airport Operations
Last week, we asked for your stories about teams and individuals who went above and beyond during the recent snow event – here's what you shared:
"The Café Yumm! team deserves recognition for their efforts. Due to the weather, there were lots of travelers in the airport, but limited food options. The Café Yumm! crew worked together and served hungry passengers until 10 p.m. on the first night of the snowfall. The next day, the morning team showed up in a carpool driven by a parent of one of the crew members!"
"The Port of Portland airport operations team stepped up when what was expected to be a minimal amount of snow turned into a record breaker within hours. The crew was called in for the snow event to take calls, address issues with all the extra travelers and run the snow teams on the airfield. It was a 24-hour operation, and each person dropped everything at home to respond to PDX for three days straight. Team members include Airport Duty Mangers Allison Tomasko, Steve Gharst, Blake Barnes and Brian Dodson; Airport Operations Specialists Z'ev Jenerik, Mauri McKitrik, Haley Verbrigghe, Chris Maffei, Austin Helms, Matt Rosales, Danny Gilliland, Garrin Black, Natalie Summerlin, Jeremiah Pacheco and Salima McRae; Airside Operations Planning Manager Dean Dodge and PDX Operations Impact Coordinator Brian Burk."
Thank you to the Café Yumm! team and Port of Portland airport operations for your hard work, kindness and dedicated service to the PDX community.
If you have a snow story to share, it's not too late to send it in! You can email PDX People Communications  please include names, companies and any other important details, including photos. We'll highlight your stories in the next PDX People newsletter and on digital signage, and all submissions will also be entered as nominees for the PDX People Customer Service Awards.
