VOLUNTEERING
Don’t have time for long-term volunteer commitment? The Leonard Carmichael Society always has one-day events to serve the community.

Upcoming:
1. The Ethnic Arts Center of Somerville, Inc., Refugee Puppet Doll Costuming

Saturday April 21st, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm in Pearson 112
Their mission is ethnic esteem, character support, and international friendship. They have provided over 35,000 multicultural arts programs to children since 1978. As part of a Somerville-Mechelen World Friendship project, these dolls will be used in performing indigenous Assyrian folktales to Assyrian refugees now living in Mechelen, Belgium. After the Puppet Shows, the children will be given the dolls as gifts. The 16 "dolls are being made to represent and wear the authentic traditional clothing of the people. We need help in creating the clothing, using nontoxic paste as "thread". All the reference material and the supplies are ready: fabric, lace, scissors, etc. as well as the dolls.

2. Earth Day "Spring Clean Up" in Medford Square

Saturday April 21st, 9:30 - 11:30 am

The plan is to meet up at the municipal parking lot located behind 454 High Street in West Medford Square.
The Medford Community Coalition will host their 4th annual Medford-wide clean up, a wonderful event unifying Medford residents, business owners and elected officials towards the common goal of beautifying our city. A team will be led in Medford Square, having volunteers pick up trash, clearing streets and sidewalks of detritus, and fillings all planters with soil and fresh flowers to transform the Square into a cheerful place for the warmer months.
Please wear Tufts gear if possible!

3. Somerville Spring Clean Up
Saturday April 21st, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Please sign up here!
