Donald A.B. Lindberg, MD, Director Emeritus of the National Library of Medicine will give the keynote address at the Native Voices in the Southwest Conference. This free event is sponsored by the Arizona Health Sciences Library and is offered in conjunction with a touring exhibit from the National Library of Medicine.

EVENT | La Vida Fronteriza: Church, Economy and Daily Life – Excerpts from the De la Torre Papers
Wednesday, October 14, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

We will celebrate the opening of the online exhibition featuring materials documenting the De la Torre family and their involvement in the Cristero Movement, a revolt by Catholics against the Mexican government that occurred in response to anti-Catholic legislation. The grand opening reception will feature two of the de la Torre grandsons with opening remarks from Mexican Consul, Ricardo Pineda Albarrán. RSVP for the reception

EVENTS | Celebrating Open Access Week, October 19-25
When most people think of Open Access, they think of a publishing solution that provides free access to journal articles and other publications. Open Access addresses more than publishing, however, as demonstrated by three events being offered during International Open Access Week. A poster session about Hacking and Open Source Culture, an introduction to a new open spatial data portal, and the use of open textbooks are among the programs celebrating Open Access at the University of Arizona. Read more

The University Libraries wishes to thank the UA Stressbusters team, a student-led group of volunteers sponsored by UA Campus Health. The students will be giving free 5 minute backrubs in the Main Library this fall.
