July issue of The East Tennessee Catholic Magazine 
The July edition of The East Tennessee Catholic Magazine is arriving at homes this week! This edition features the St. Joseph's Caregiver Ministry at St. John Neumann Parish, which is assisting those caring for seriously ill or aging loved ones. There is also coverage from the ordination of Deacon Mark Schuster, the first ordination to take place in the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Pilgrimage to the Holy Land with Cardinal Justin Rigali  
Join His Eminence Cardinal Justin Rigali on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land this autumn. Your journey will include visits to many important sites that helped form the foundation of our Christian faith, including the Sea of Galilee, Bethlehem, Bethany, and Jerusalem. Pray the Stations of the Cross along the Via Dolorosa.

The pilgrimage will be Sept. 30-Oct. 11. The registration deadline is rapidly approaching.

Columbus Home celebrates 45th anniversary
On July 1, 1973, the doors to Catholic Charities' Columbus Home opened for the very first time, serving as an emergency shelter and home for abused and neglected children. Thanks to the support of the Knights of Columbus, the Knox County Juvenile Court System, Tennessee’s Department of Human Services, and East Tennessee’s Catholic community, Columbus Home has served thousands of children in need. 2018 Ministries Day Aug. 18 at All Saints
The diocesan Office of Christian Formation is sponsoring Ministries Day on Aug. 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at All Saints Church in Knoxville. This event is open to all who share the Catholic faith, including parents, student youth leaders, coordinators of youth ministry, RCIA teams, adult educators, liturgy and ministry teams, DREs, and catechists and assistants. Over 20 individual workshops will be offered, including a Spanish track.

Catholic Charities
Heart for the Pour
Catholic Charities of East Tennessee's next Heart for the Pour event will be at Elkmont Exchange in Knoxville on Aug. 23. Elkmont Exchange will donate $1 from every pint sold between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. to Catholic Charities. Catholic Charities will be hosting regular Heart for the Pour events at different breweries in Knoxville.

Conference on Gaudete et Exsultate
The Office of Hispanic Ministry is sponsoring a conference on Pope Francis’ new apostolic exhortation, Gaudete et Exsultate, addressing “the call to holiness in the contemporary world.” The conference will be presented in Spanish by Father Luis Alberto Santiago Marroquin from the Diocese of Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico, and it will take place in Chattanooga on July 7 at 7 p.m., and Knoxville on July 8 at 2 p.m. (NOTE CORRECTED DATES AND LOCATIONS).

Diocesan Men's Conference to be held Aug. 25 
The Office of Christian Formation is sponsoring the Diocese of Knoxville's Men's Conference to be held on Saturday, Aug. 25, beginning at 9 a.m. at All Saints Church in Knoxville. Speaker Nic Davidson will present on Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body and its place in the spiritual life of men. The day will include Holy Mass, conferences, small-group discussions, and Q&A. Snacks and lunch included. There is no charge to attend. Click here to register.
Hombres de Valor 2018
Pastoral Juvenil invites high school teen boys to the third annual Hombres de Valor retreat.  The theme this year is “Run so as to win” (1 Corinthians 9:24).  Guys: during this retreat you can expect games, a lot of sports, time for prayer, excellent talks, good food, new friends, fun activities, and much learning about what it means to truly be a young man of God. Some talks and activities will be in Spanish and others in English. The retreat will be from Friday, July 27, at 6:30 p.m. to Sunday, July 29, at 3 p.m. at the Christ Prince of Peace Retreat Center in Benton. Cost is $30. Bring a friend. #iGiveCatholic Save the Date: Nov. 27, 2018
The Diocese of Knoxville will host #iGiveCatholic for a second year in a row on Tuesday, Nov. 27.  In 2017, the campaign raised more than $62,000 for 25 parishes, schools, and ministries in the diocese.
#iGiveCatholic is a 24-hour online giving event for the faithful to unite and raise as many charitable dollars as possible for participating Catholic parishes, schools, and ministries.
