Dear Engineering Colleagues,
It’s been an exciting month for GW Engineering, anchored by our annual celebration of the engineering profession and our wonderful community – Engineers Week. This year, our celebrations began on Wednesday, February 17th, and will conclude tomorrow, February 28th, with the GW TAI and GeorgeHacks Hackathon.

Over the last two weeks, our departments, student organizations, and offices have hosted a number of engaging events to highlight engineering accomplishments and cultivate community across our school.
It’s been a pleasure to see students, faculty, and staff all celebrating together in the SEH, reflecting the spirit of our school’s vibrant, devoted community. I hope you’ll enjoy reading about these events and other recent community accomplishments below.

Build a Platform to Make Survey Research More Reproducible |
After growing increasingly frustrated with existing survey software options, Engineering Management and Systems Engineering (EMSE) Professor John Helveston built surveydown, a fully open-source survey tool created in just six weeks with help from LLMs like ChatGPT. The platform has gained traction in the survey-building and open-source communities, and was recently featured in PLOS One and shared at major conferences.
