Be Respectful:
All-User Restrooms
You may have noticed a post on PDX social media highlighting all-user restrooms. Did you know the airport has four all-user restrooms, located near gates B6, C5, D5 and E8? Sometimes called gender neutral or all-gender restrooms, these facilities can be used by anyone, regardless of their gender identity and expression. They're also helpful when it comes to caregiving, whether for adults or kids. Learn more about accessibility at the airport and visit the PDX People training page to find out how you can help make our airport welcoming to all travelers – including trainings on pronoun use and sensory inclusion.

British Airways Increases Nonstop Service between London and Portland This Summer
Starting in June, British Airways will increase their service to one flight per day between PDX and London Heathrow. The route will use a larger Boeing 777-200ER aircraft – the first of its kind at PDX. Increased service will not only provide more flexibility for travelers seeking to visit the United Kingdom, but also in making connections through Heathrow to other parts of Europe. Travelers will also be able to fly Delta Air Lines to Amsterdam, Condor to Frankfurt or Icelandair to Reykjavík this summer.

Sorting Out the PDX Waste Areas
Keeping our waste areas organized and sorting your trash properly is part of maintaining a clean and safe airport environment. It also keeps shared spaces clean and usable for your fellow PDX People. Some key things to keep in mind:
  • Use a plastic bin – we call them “curbies” – to take glass to the waste site. Don’t put plastic bags in glass recycling. If you need a curbie, request one from our waste minimization team.
  • Only place food scraps in the food waste bin. Don’t put boxes, milk, unopened cans or other garbage in these bins, as contamination turns compost into garbage.
  • Dispose of liquids in your sinks. Don't dump liquids in the exterior water areas or in the compactor.
  • Run the compactor every time you load it. Your co-workers will thank you when they arrive to drop off their garbage.
Check out the full article for all the details on sorting waste. Want to “talk trash” with the waste minimization team and be knowledgeable about the process? Your manager can book a training with the team by emailing lesswaste@portofportland.com. Thanks for helping keep PDX a clean and safe place to work.
Roof Sneak Peek in the News
After three years of hearing construction sounds and feeling vibrations as the new wooden roof was installed, some of the first people to see it in place were those who work at the airport every day. On Saturday, Jan. 21, many PDX People had the opportunity to step behind construction walls, look up and admire what we’re building...and several media outlets came along for the sneak peek. Watch the KOIN news story, then check out more coverage from the Daily Journal of Commerce and KATU.

Over the weekend, we celebrated Lunar New Year 2023 – the Year of the Rabbit – at the airport. The event was organized by the PDX People program, which is centered around celebrating and promoting employee culture.
Saturday's celebration included a traditional lion dance by the White Lotus Dragon and Lion Dance group, followed by a procession through the ticket lobby and Concourse C. Red envelopes containing chocolate coins – a Lunar New Year tradition in many countries were passed out to employees and passengers. Thanks to everyone who helped make the event happen and to all who joined in the fun!
