Dear Student,
Due to the increased number of COVID-19 cases observed on the Tufts Medford/Somerville campus, we are taking the following actions to help mitigate further transmission of the virus.
Beginning Monday February 28, 2022, we will institute a “test out of isolation” strategy for all Medford/Somerville and SMFA students. This updated policy applies to undergraduate and graduate students living on- or off-campus and to those isolating in the mods, in designated hotel rooms, or in off-campus residences (including those who have driven to their family’s home to isolate) as follows:
- Rapid antigen testing will be performed on day 5 of isolation.
- If the result is negative, you will be informed that you may leave isolation on day 6.
- If the rapid antigen test is positive, you must remain in isolation and be re-tested on day 7.
- If the test on day 7 is negative, you will be released from isolation on day 8. If the rapid antigen test on day 7 is positive, you must remain in isolation until day 11.
Rapid antigen testing for students isolating in the mods and in hotel rooms will be performed as part of daily health checks by Brewster Ambulance Service. Those isolating in their off-campus residence will test at 62R Talbot Ave.
Tufts will not be accepting self-administered antigen tests for the purpose of ending isolation. Individuals who have chosen to isolate themselves at their family’s home or other off campus residence have the option to complete 10 days of isolation and return to campus on Day 11.
Even if you received a negative antigen test on day 5 and are released from isolation on day 6, you must still wear a mask everywhere —even at home around others —for at least five more days.
