End Of Season Shows Were FANTASTIC!
Our students in the Fall/Winter 2021 Performance Program season had two days of amazing shows in DC last month. On  February 5th they rocked 3 Stars Brewing Co. and on the 12th they got to experience a larger stage and having a back stage green room at Pearl Street Warehouse. We were blown away by the music of The Beatles, Thin Lizzy and John Mayer & Co. this season!  All of the hardwork put in by the students', show directors' and teachers' was on display. We couldn't have been happier with all they accomplished over the course of the season. If you missed it or want to relive the fun, The Pearl Street Warehouse live stream can still be found by clicking HERE.

The Spring 2022 Performance Program Has Begun!

The start to any season is exciting but this season is particularly so. We have the largest Performance Program we have ever had for this Spring 2022 season.  Rehearsals officially began on Monday and we're off to a great start.  This season on Mondays we're rocking out to the songs of two great 80s alternative bands in The Smiths vs. The Cure with Brooks. On Tuesday, the Paramore show is bringing back the 2000s pop punk sound with Jeff. Finally, on Wednesday Colin is going to take us to Funkytown to explore the wide world of all things funk. Need more info?  Call Rose on 301-589-7625.
The Adult Performance Program Is Here!

We've been talking about it for a while now and it's finally time. Our Spring 2022 Adult Performance Program has their first rehearsal on Saturday, March 5th. This season will be a 90's Mix Tape theme that will cover lots of tastes and skill levels and will culminate in a performance at the beginning of June.  For adults that want to learn to play in a band but don't want the pressure of the live performance we are still offering our Adult Rock 101 on Thursday evenings and we have some room available in the group now after graduting some members.  If you have any questions contact Rose on  301-589-7625 or on silverspring@schoolofrock.com.

Say Hello To Our New Lead Instructor Jeff!

Since the promotion of Brooks to Musical Director the position of lead instructor has been vacant. Jeff has been dedicating more and more of himself to School of Rock over the last couple years and we are happy to watch him grow with us. When asked if he would like to say something in the newsletter about becoming Lead Instructor, he said. "I am honored to accept this new position here at the school! Teaching has truly been a life changing experience, and every day I look forward to seeing the great accomplishments of our students. I am fortunate to work with a phenomenal management staff and highly skilled instructors who work hard to ensure a proper musical edification and to promote intellectual enrichment through music".  Congrats to Jeff!

A Fond Farewell To Neel

It goes without saying that Neel Madan has been a huge part of our success here at School of Rock Silver Spring.  Over his 5-years with us he has held many roles and been pivital in the lives of so many students who have passed through our doors.  We like to say that School of Rock is a tapestry of all who have spent time here and for sure the "threads" of Neel's contributions will always endure.  Best of luck Neel - we wish you the very best in your future endeavors!
"For the past 5 years, I have had the absolute joy of working with all of you and helping you to achieve the promise of your musical potential. The memories I have made with you all will forever be cherished in my mind and I'm so proud of each and every student that I have had the pleasure to work with during my time here.I wish you all the best in your musical endeavors." ~Neel
THOUGHTS FROM THE MOTHERSHIP
with Our Music Director -  Brooks
LEARNING NEW SONGS - It's the start of a new Performance Program season! That means everyone in the program is learning new material right now. When cast on a new song, make sure to prioritize the foundation and overall structure of a song first. You can always go back to fill in and fine tune details like fills, ad libs, or even solos later on. Make it your priority to be able to play through the song at rehearsal as soon as you can so that your director can give feedback and help steer you towards the things you need to work on in your lessons and practice time. This goes for Rock 101 and Rock Lab songs too! Talk with your instructors about how to prioritize the different aspects of your songs so you can have them up and running in rehearsal with the rest of the band!

Summer 2022 Intern Program Info Coming Soon
