CURRENT | ¡MODA HOY! LATIN AMERICAN AND LATINX FASHION DESIGN TODAY
May 31 - November 12, 2023
This exhibition includes creators from Latin American countries, as well as designers of Latin American heritage living and working in the United States and Europe who are often referred to as Hispanic, Latino/Latina, or the gender-neutral term Latinx. The exhibition rejects the notion of a singular Latin American style, to focus instead on the diversity of talent present today in Latin America and its diaspora. Content for this exhibition is available both in English and Spanish.

CURRENT | PAREIDOLIA - 2023 ILLUSTRATION MFA VISUAL THESIS SHOW
June 17 - November 21, 2023
The 2023 Visual Thesis Show, titled Pareidolia, represents the culmination of three years of graduate study for the FIT MFA Illustration candidates. Each MFA candidate develops and executes a unique body of work that represents their exploration, artistic growth, academic research, and professional development. This year the exhibition includes the work of 15 MFA candidates and consists of works on paper, collaged drawings, digital art, animation motion graphics, comics, and picture books.

Food and fashion are two modes of expression central to our daily lives. The histories of food and fashion as consumer and cultural products have converged over the past three centuries. Food & Fashion will explore how fashion designers turn to food themes and motifs to comment on critical topics ranging from cultural identity to sustainability, social activism, and body politics, as well as ideas related to femininity, domesticity, nostalgia, and consumerism. THE BATTLE TO RETURN MOCTEZUMA’S HEADDRESS TO MEXICO
Mexico has long demanded the return of the legendary headdress (or possible cape) that is believed to have once belonged to the Aztec emperor Moctezuma II (Montezuma). Shayne Hall of the Blackfeet Tribe was one of more than a dozen models who took part in the First Peoples’ Fashion Show at the Montana Folk Festival in Butte on July 15th. Four Native American designers — who have shown around the world — all said their work was rooted and inspired by their heritage or traditional techniques, with their own twist.
