A recent publication co-authured by Heritage College Professor Elizabeth Beverly, Ph.D., Osteopathic Heritage Foundation Ralph S. Licklider, D.O., Endowed Professor in Behavioral Diabetes, demonstrates how a collaborative among Ohio's seven medical schools developed a useful framework for getting evidence-based best practices for cardiovascular health improvement into the hands of primary care providers. "Please Use the Mic" is a podcast co-hosted by Heritage College student, Suzanne Chaar, OMS I, and Medical Education Learning Technologies Analyst, Mark Loudin. The goal of the podcast is to help current medical students know that they are not alone in the challenges of medical school, and to illustrate to premed students the life of a medical student at the Heritage College. OHIO provides update on monkeypox (MPV) outbreak
The university recently issued an update on the monkeypox outbreak saying the relative risk in our community is currently low with 210 cases in Ohio as of Sept. 6 and no cases at the university. A website has been created with more information, including recommended precautions. Read more.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline launches 988
Dialing 988, the new three-digit dialing code, will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). The number is active across the United States.
When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors who are part of the existing lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, provide support, and connect callers to resources if necessary. Read more.

Save the date for upcoming Health Scholars Research Symposium
The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, College of Health Sciences and Professions, and the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service are hosting the 2022 Health Scholars Research Symposium on Friday, Nov. 4. This event will feature research posters by students and postdoctoral fellows, an awards presentation and a keynote speaker. The goal of this event is to bring awareness of the research being conducted by health scholars at OHIO that impacts health in the state and beyond. Poster abstrats can be submitted until Oct. 2.
