New Program Highlight:
Detroit, Michigan
FACES is working to launch a full implementation of FACES for the Future in Detroit. We will capitalize on the momentum that has been generated by the peer health education project and engage with partners like Henry Ford Health System and Oakland University School of Medicine. [Read More]

Program Coordinator Highlight:
Alice Curchin
The Sacramento program is off to an exciting beginning at Health Professions High School. Alice Curchin has been working to create relationships with local health organizations to secure valuable internship sites for students. Stay tuned for more updates!
Alumni Highlight:
Anali Velez, RN
Anali Velez was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, a child of immigrant parents and a first generation college student. She was a member of the first FACES for the Future class in Hayward, CA. 
Anali completed the FACES program in 2009 and continued onto Chabot College in Hayward where she completed the prerequisite classes for entry into nursing programs.  In 2012, Anali enrolled in California State University East Bay’s competitive nursing program where she graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  She became an official Registered Nurse in June 2015.
Meet our Alumni Outreach Coordinator:
Rae Spriggs
Rae is a 2013 FACES San Diego Alumna. She graduated from UC Berkeley this year with a major in Public Health and minor in Conservation and Resource Studies.
She is our Alumni Outreach Coordinator, which means she will be reaching out to all of our wonderful FACES alumni to engage them in upcoming events and socials.

FACES Coalition Awarded Federal Grant to Expand Nationally
FACES for the Future Coalition was awarded a multi-year, 2.5 million dollar grant through the Office of Minority Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to nationally replicate its programs transitioning high school students from underserved communities into health fields. 
This significant award allows FACES for the Future to expand its work in California and to begin creating new programs across the country that support disadvantaged minority youth in moving into health careers, beginning in Detroit and in New Mexico. [Read More]

Global Health Youth Summit
(June 21-25, 2016)
Twelve FACES for the Future students, each representing a FACES program from across California, traveled to Washington DC to participate in our inaugural Global Health Youth Summit (GHYS). [Read More]  
Behavioral Health Undergrad Summit
(July 11-22, 2016)
This was a unique opportunity to gain experience, training and professional development in the behavioral healthcare field.  Students participated in a combination of workshops, tours, and guest speakers.  [Read More] 
FACES Summer Medical Academy
(July 11-22, 2016)
Students are exposed to clinical skills training, gross anatomy and pathology workshops, clinical simulation scenarios, problem-based learning, and workshops in patient centered care models. [Read More]
