A Message from Dean Camille Lizarríbar
May 19, 2022
Dear Student,
As the 2022 academic year comes to an end, I am writing to thank you for taking this journey with us and to wish you a joyful and restorative summer.
If you get the chance, cross something off your bucket list this summer! Explore a new hobby or skill that you have been thinking about but just have not gotten around to. Make new friends. Visit old friends. Discover new places or favorite foods. And send photos. No, seriously! I would really love to see what you get up to. I will share my favorites with you in the fall.
Despite the ongoing pandemic, we came together this year in person as a community to live, learn, and grow. I know that returning to in person life was a significant and challenging adjustment for many of you. I appreciate the hurdles you cleared. While there was much joy during the year, there was also sorrow as we united in grief to mourn the loss of several fellow students and faculty. Throughout it all, you showed us your character, your compassion, and your generous spirit. You made us extremely proud.
I want to acknowledge the incredible work of our staff, who strived to do their very best work on your behalf. We know at times our efforts were imperfect, but our goals were heartfelt. And I want to recognize the work of our talented faculty and administration who helped Tufts navigate this challenging year with creativity and grace.
If you are graduating, I look forward to celebrating with you this weekend. We wish you every success as you move forward in your lives. You will forever be part of the Tufts community and we hope that you will cherish and nurture your lifelong connection to us and one another.
If you will be returning to Tufts in the fall, the Student Affairs team is looking forward to engaging and collaborating with you on a robust range of community building opportunities. We are excited, energized, and enthusiastic about what lies ahead. May the summer bring you happiness, health, and renewal.
With best wishes,
Camille Lizarríbar, JD, PhD
