Tufts Campus Life
Student Organizaiton Upates for Fall 2021
August 12, 2021
Dear Student Organization Leaders,
As we approach the start of the fall semester, we are writing with a few updates regarding the operations of your organization.
Student Organizations Fair
As a reminder, the Student Organizations Fair is scheduled for September 6, 2021 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on the Academic Quad (please note the updated end time of 2 p.m.). Each recognized organization must have completed their annual JumboLife Transition & OCL Registration Form via JumboLife to receive a table. You can find additional information on how to prepare for the fair here.
Scheduled Meetings & Events
Your organization’s ReserveTufts contact (as entered in your organization's registration form on JumboLife) will be permitted to book spaces on campus starting at the end of August. However, any space requested will not be approved until after September 8, as this is the date when events and programs are permitted to begin.
Please keep these additional policies in mind as you begin planning:
  • Absolutely no events or meetings are to be held until the first day of classes, September 8. New students should not be invited, or encouraged, to attend any student organization meeting or event during Undergraduate Orientation.
  • Organizations must adhere to the posting policy.
  • In order to reserve space or host an event, organizations must be registered on JumboLife and submit event requests through the Event Registration Form
TCU Treasury
The TCU Treasury will transition back to the paper forms for all treasury requests for disbursements (payments), supplementary funding, and the signatory authorization for the 2021-22 academic year. More information will be shared at the mandatory signatory meetings in September. Both signatories for all TCU Treasury funded organizations are required to attend one of two of the following trainings.
The dates, times, and locations are as follows:
  • Tuesday, September 21, 7 p.m. in Pearson 104
  • Wednesday, September 22, 7 p.m. in Pearson 104
COVID-19 Operations
Based on current University guidelines, student organizations are permitted to host in-person meetings and events with no social distancing requirements or capacity limitations. Please note that this could change at any time, as regulations are consistently being evaluated and assessed in accordance with CDC guidelines.
As it currently stands, student organizations may:
  • Host events and meetings indoors, without capacity caps or social distancing, fully masked.
  • Host events and meetings outdoors, without capacity caps or social distancing, without masks. This format is most encouraged.
  • Travel off campus, fully masked when on public transportation, buses or in cars, and whenever indoors.
  • Host guests (visitors, presenters, performers, etc.) from outside of Tufts, with all participants fully masked.
  • Serve individually-wrapped foods. Organizations may not sere buffet-style meals.
For events that host large amounts of guests, or for events where guests will be staying longer than one day on campus, or be indoors when masks would need to be removed (for eating, as an example), please contact ocl@tufts.edu to discuss protocol and feasibility.
In addition to these policies, the Office for Campus Life is also encouraging student organizations to maintain virtual operations whenever possible. This will alleviate demand for in-person space, and create more accessible opportunities for involvement for all students and their comfort levels.
Thank you for your attention to these details. We look forward to welcoming you back in the fall!

Sincerely,
Chelsea Jordan
Associate Director for Campus Life, Operations
