GET READY FOR LANGUAGE PLACEMENT EXAMS ON AUGUST 29

Dear Jumbos,
Foreign Language Placement Exams are being held on the morning of Thursday, August 29 to determine incoming students’ proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in several foreign languages taught at Tufts. The exams determine the course level at which you should start your study of a language. In some cases, students who score high on an exam may gain partial or full exemption from the Liberal Arts language requirement; very high scores may also exempt some students from the International Relations major language requirement. 
While only Liberal Arts BA/BS students have a language requirement, all incoming students are welcome to take one or more Language Placement Exams, and any student planning to study a language at Tufts (or while abroad) is strongly encouraged to do so.  It is to your advantage to take a placement exam, even if you are not sure you want to continue to study that language at Tufts. The language placement exams do not confer academic credit.

Don’t forget to visit your Advising Dean before or after your Language Placement Exam at Donuts with the Deans in the Dowling Hall Lobby from 9  – 11 a.m.!
