We hope you had a safe and restful fall break, and congratulations on completing Week 8!
Take a moment to reflect on how far you've come. College is not just about assignments and exams—it's also a time for personal growth, building connections, and discovering your passions. As you continue on this journey, remember to take time for yourself, explore new interests, and enjoy all that campus life has to offer. We believe in you and support you!
Be sure to reach out to campus resources, including tutoring, counseling (CAPS & Uwill), and academic advising. Remember to utilize Tutor.com, a live, on-demand online tutoring platform available 365/24/7 on Canvas. Academic coaches are also available through the Academic Resource Center. Make and keep a coaching appointment this month and be automatically entered into a raffle for a cozy Fall basket. Make an appointment on Compass!

Build Your Time Management Skills
Effective time management helps you stay organized, reduce stress, and accomplish your goals more efficiently. Here are some tips:
-
Set SMART Goals: Create goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Break larger tasks into smaller, actionable steps to track progress and stay motivated without feeling overwhelmed.
-
Apply the 2-Minute Rule: If a task takes less than two minutes to complete (e.g., replying to a short email or tidying up your desk), do it immediately. This prevents small tasks from piling up and reduces procrastination.
-
Use Time Blocks and Set Boundaries: Schedule specific time blocks for studying, meetings, and personal activities. During these blocks, focus solely on the task at hand. Set boundaries by limiting distractions (e.g., putting your phone on "Do Not Disturb") to maximize productivity.
-
Try using the Pomodoro Technique to enhance your time management. Set a timer for 25 minutes of focused work, followed by a 5-minute break. After four cycles, take a longer break (15-30 minutes). This method helps maintain concentration and reduces burnout by balancing work and rest, ensuring you stay productive throughout the day.
Remember that we are stronger together. Please take care of yourself and each other.

| Tip of the week from Dr. Carolyn Corbran, Director for Disability Support Services:
-
Use your resources on campus (Academic Resource Center, Writing Center, Math Learning Lab, form a student study group) to support you in your academic journey as early as possible to stay on track.
- There are no bad questions to ask except the ones you do not ask. If you do not ask, then the answer is already no. Take a chance and ask!
-
Be kind to all your fellow students. You never know what challenges someone is facing, and your empathy can make a huge difference!
| |
Last year, Disability Support Services facilitated a Faculty Liaison Program, where 11 faculty members engaged in workshops on topics including accommodations, universal design, and social justice aspects of disability support.
DSS also hosted our second induction ceremony for thirty-four (34) DSS students into the Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society (DAPi), recognizing the academic achievements of undergraduate students who have disabilities.
“DSS has been extremely welcoming and caring towards me. I did not feel judged or pressured to share my experience. At my former university, I experienced an extremely hard time and felt very unwelcome and misunderstood when trying to receive accommodations. I have had a very different experience at Seton Hall.” — DSS Student
DSS is working with the largest number of registered students with the office in its’ history for using services, with a 9% increase in students inquiring and registering for services last academic year.
