Director's Message

August was a very busy month for our club! We completed the final camps with a great turnout for our club-wide Players Camp plus sessions for Goal Scorer's and Lil' Surfers.
Tournament Director Leon and I would like to personally thank our 200+ volunteers supporting the 9th Annual Surf Classic Tournament. Your contribution, time and resources are sincerely appreciated. Over 200 teams braved the unusually warm weekend and even a short rainstorm! Check out Surf team Champions and Finalists in the Tournament section and a few photo highlights below.
We have some great soccer ahead of us with the kickoff of the fall SoCal league. Based on last season's success several teams have been promoted to new flights. B2007/08, B2008, G2011 and B2011-White are now competing in the National Premier League. Congratulations to the B2007/08 team also reaching the NPL Super Division.
As a reminder, the fall season is our primary competitive season. Participation in training and games is expected by all players. Your team's games schedules are available now in TeamSnap so please update your player availability and calendars.
Our new Lil' Surfers Recreation League for 2019-2021 birth years begins in September and Skills Academy for ages 2017-2019 will also restart in October.

Coach's Corner

We are delighted to announced Gabi Velazquez has joined our SC Surf coaching staff. Gabi now leads the Girls 2017 team as Head Coach.
Gabi is a former San Clemente Surf club footballer herself playing six years with SC Surf/SC United. 
As a celebrated San Clemente High School Girls Varsity alumnus, Gabi wore #22 and anchored the defense. Accolades included Varsity Captain, Orange County First Team for South Coast League, and Triton Player of the Year in 2018. 
After SCHS, Gabi attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for university and joined the women's Cal Poly Futbol Club (CPFC). In her senior year (2021), Gabi and her team made it to the national semifinals for the first time in club history.

Surf Classic Tournament Team Success

Congratulations to all our teams participating in the San Clemente Surf Classic August 22-24. Some SC Surf club highlights include:
  • 1st tournament for our youngers Girls 2017 and Boys 2018 teams. 
  • (7) San Clemente Surf Club teams competed in finals matches.
  • (5) San Clemente Surf Club teams won their bracket including B2008 NPL, B2010, B2010 Black, B2016 Merritt and G2011 NPL.
  • (2) B2015 teams were finalists in their respective brackets.

Lil' Surfers Recreation League

Introducing Surf's new Lil' Surfers Recreation League for 2019-2021 boys and girls. Players can form their own team 4v4 team (age group 2019/20) or 3v3 (age group 2020/21) and optionally bring their own coach. Lil Surfers recreation program is a professional 10-week curriculum designed for young players including weekly skills sessions on Tuesdays and Fridays followed by Saturday morning games at Shorecliffs Middle School - all led by local top Surf Club coaches. Lil' Surfers Free Weekly Clinics

Free weekly clinics continue on Tuesdays from 2-2:45pm at Jim Johnson Memorial Park. Beginning the week of September 8th clinics will also be held Fridays from 4-4:45pm at Tierra Grande Park.
Share with neighbors, friends and family as we #GIVEBACK introducing the love of soccer to local boys and girls. All Lil' Surfers must register once to attend the weekly clinics.
