Joy Comes in the Morning

My year had taken off like lightning... and at times I was in awe of it all, other times I've felt afraid. But as stormy nights always do, they turn into mornings. So this month I am focusing on the morning. February 7th was the tenth anniversary of Tom’s death. I have grown and learned that anticipatory grief or anxiety for what that date holds is worse than the day itself.  It was a horrific day ten years ago but I will not let that day, that memory hold me hostage.  Yes, it will always be a stormy day lodged in my memory, not to ever be forgotten but surrounded by new morning memories.   

"But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation" Psalm 13:5-6

A Widow's Way: Ministry Update 

Most of you know I have been involved with Young Life Armenia for many years. The Regional Directors, Arman and Lilit, from Armenia were in the US last month and stopped over in Houston to visit me.  Deborah Martin hosted a wonderful dinner so that some of the Houston gals could meet my friends and get a glimpse of Young Life in Armenia. Armenian food, baklava, music, and many hugs were shared.  Lilit shared that she has been meeting with widows in Armenia whose husbands had been killed in the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan. You can read about this ministry here in her words. We were SO touched by this ministry – on the other side of the world –that we are considering a trip to meet and serve these women.
