Jodi Martini Doubles Down on Excellent Customer Service
Capers Café employee Jodi Martini (she/her) received two customer compliments for her outstanding service:
"Jodi is an extraordinary employee. She helps so many customers with grace and humor and makes it look easy…but my serving history reminds me otherwise! I travel often for work, and she is absolutely and by far the quickest, most personable server I have had. This woman deserves a raise! This is the first time I’ve met her, and I will be sure to return to Capers in hopes that I am lucky enough to have her as a server again."
"I have had Jodi as a bartender twice in the last month, and she has been extremely friendly, kind and engaging. Even when working while short staffed, she provided great service to all customers, and it all feels very genuine. She was simply wonderful!"

What's New with PDX Next: Bag Carousel Closures and PDX Next Forum
The holiday season means a low-key few weeks ahead when it comes to construction. When Phase 2 begins, there will be more terminal impacts – we’ll keep you posted.

PDX Next Forum: Mark your calendars for Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 10:30 a.m. to get the inside scoop on construction at PDX. Be Respectful: Keep PDX Spaces Clean and Welcoming
Being respectful is a PDX People core value, and that includes your actions toward travelers, other airport workers and even shared spaces. Recently, there have been reports of graffiti and stickers in restrooms and other areas of PDX. Beyond the issue of defacement, some of the content is in violation of the PDX non-discrimination policy, which states:
"All individuals working on airport property or visiting airport property shall do so without being subjected to discrimination and/or harassment, including sexual harassment. In furtherance of its nondiscrimination policy, the Port prohibits tenants, service providers and contractors from discriminating against or harassing any person employed at the airport, visiting the airport, or seeking the services of tenants, service providers and contractors, on the basis of the person's actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, domestic partner status, marital status or disability."
If you see something or are aware of any ongoing activities related to stickers or graffiti, contact the Communications Center at 503.460.4747. Thank you for respecting your environment, our visitors to PDX and your fellow PDX People.

When Your Favorite PDX Features Are Returning
In December 2022, we’ll hit a milestone in the five-year-long PDX Next project: the halfway point! So much at the airport has changed. We now have a Concourse B instead of a Concourse A. Concourse E doubled in length. We upgraded the Rental Car Center. Many new shops and restaurants are open. But the construction work to expand the main terminal also means some of PDX’s most convenient features have temporarily gone away – including the much-missed Concourse Connector. We sat down with Irene Ng, senior manager of site and facility design at PDX, to ask when they might return.

Horizon Air Donates Retired Aircraft to Portland Community College
To improve the learning experience for the next generation of aircraft technicians, Horizon donated a retired Q400 to Portland Community College. Last week, the Q400 made its final landing, departing from PDX to arrive at its new home at Hillsboro Airport. The donated aircraft will provide students in the Aviation Maintenance Technology and Aviation Science programs with valuable practical experience working on a commercial aircraft. Kayler, a PCC graduate and Horizon aircraft technician knows how important this is. "The Q400 will give students the opportunity to get their hands on a full-size airplane from a real airline and the skills and knowledge they gain will carry them for their entire career," he said. "This is a huge asset to the program and I’m really grateful to everyone involved in making this happen."

Giving Back: Donation Opportunities
Many folks look for ways to support their community during the holiday season. Conveniently, there are two donation opportunities on-site now at PDX.
Our PDX TSA team is partnering with the Marine Corps Reserves on the annual Toys for Tots campaign, and there are convenient drop-off points at the airport. If you'd like to participate, please donate a new, unwrapped toy with at least a $10 value. Collection bins are in the TSA offices on the second and fourth floors of the Rental Car Center and at the supervisor podiums at the TSA checkpoints. Toy pickup is on Friday, Dec. 16.
Additionally, in partnership with the Port of Portland's Veterans employee resource group, we're hosting a warm clothing drive, on now through Tuesday, Dec. 13. You're encouraged to bring in gently used gloves, hats, coats and cold weather gear to be donated to the Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center. There's a drop box on the first floor of the Port of Portland HQ building, near the Anchor conference room. Need help getting your donations to the location? Contact Ryan Choate to arrange for pickup.

PDX in Pictures
The 2022 FIFA World Cup rolled through PDX this weekend when Argentina and Mexico went head-to-head in a highly anticipated game. The match was televised in Spanish in the south ticket lobby and at the end of Concourse D, Cha Cha Cha provided celebratory snacks and there was even a photo opportunity to pose with a life-size cutout of Lionel Messi.
