Isolation and Quarantine Recommendations for The General Public
If you are experiencing severe symptoms of COVID-19, please contact your medical provider for testing and quarantine recommendations. Click here to review the CDC recommendations for monitoring your COVID-19 symptoms at home.
If you are fully vaccinated and received a booster, and/or vaccinated but not yet booster eligible and asymptomatic, you do not need to self-quarantine after exposure to COVID-19.
The CDC recommends that you continue to wear a mask for 10-14 days after a close exposure, especially in indoor settings. If you develop COVID-19 symptoms, stay home, contact your doctor immediately to be tested, and self-quarantine until you get your results. If you test positive, follow isolation recommendations.
If you do not develop symptoms, the CDC recommends getting tested five days after a close exposure. You can continue to work, etc., while masked until you get results.
- If your test comes back negative, you are free to resume work, school, and other pursuits, but continue to wear a face covering.
- If your test comes back positive, then you are to isolate for at least 5 days. Isolation can end after five days if symptoms are not present, and a diagnostic specimen (antigen test preferred) collected on day five or later tests negative.
If a fever is present, continue isolation until the fever resolves. If symptoms other than fever are not resolving, continue to isolate until symptoms are resolving or until after day 10.
- If you are unable to test or choosing not to test, and symptoms are not present or are resolving, isolation can end after day 10.
If you are unvaccinated or vaccinated and booster-eligible but have not yet received one, and have been exposed to a COVID-positive individual, it is recommended to self-isolate and be tested. If you test positive, follow isolation recommendations. If you develop COVID-19 symptoms, stay home, contact your doctor immediately to be tested, and self-quarantine until you get your results.
The Sac State Student Health & Counseling Services Pharmacy does offer test kits for purchase (limit 1 per day) on the 1st floor of The WELL. The test kits are limited to Sacramento State students, staff, and faculty with a One Card.

On behalf of Student Organizations & Leadership, please join me in welcoming Emanuel “Manny” Melgarejo as our new Associate Director! Erica Perez, College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) Director
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Erica Perez to the position of Director for the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) effective Monday, January 10. CAMP is a federally funded program with over 40 years of history at Sacramento State, designed to serve students from migrant and seasonal farm working backgrounds.
CAMP strives to be “a home away from home” for its students.
Erica is an alumna of Sacramento State, the CAMP, the CAMP Scholars Internship Program, and the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). As an alumna, a first-generation student, and a migrant student herself, she has direct knowledge of the unique cultural traits found in migrant families and the challenges likely to affect migrant students as they pursue higher education. Erica holds a bachelor's degree in Communications Studies and a master's degree in Educational Technology from Sacramento State.
She previously served as Program Coordinator for CAMP for the past two years (2020-2022). In this role, Erica was responsible for the daily operations of the program including the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all program components and supervision of employees. In addition, she facilitated individual academic, group academic, and personal advising sessions to help students with general education, graduation requirements, and to develop short-term and long-term educational plans. Erica also led recruitment efforts, conducting presentations to students, school personnel, community organizations, parent advisory committees, and community agencies regarding CAMP, higher education opportunities, and financial aid. She also coordinated the Migrant Student Leadership Institute (MSLI), a residential summer program designed to prepare migrant high school students to become college-ready, competitive candidates for admission to a four-year institution and ultimately future leaders in their local communities. Prior to serving as CAMP Coordinator, Erica served as Communication Specialist for a number of equity programs within the same unit including the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), Dreamer Resource Center (DRC), High School Equivalency Program (HEP), Migrant Student Leadership Institute (MSLI), the Serna Center, and more. In this position, she developed and managed messaging and marketing plans in collaboration with staff to better engage, inform and educate students.
Erica brings over 10 years of diverse experience within CAMP, equity programs, and comes with a strong understanding of the various areas critical to the success of CAMP. As a migrant student and Sacramento State/CAMP alumna, she will transition smoothly into the position as she understands the population, critical partners, and program objectives. Please join us in welcoming Erica to her new role as Director. We are confident she will continue our tradition of offering outstanding student support and services while transforming the lives of migrant students and their families.

This event will be virtual storytelling of Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) college students at Sacramento State, sharing their experiences and personal stories. The virtual event serves as a reminder of the cultural expectation and social pressure placed on APIDA College students.
During the event, hear from... an international student from India, a refugee student leader from a family of 13, a Laotian student teacher, a Fijian veteran student-parent, and many others.
The event will culminate with strategies on how to counteract the effects of this stereotype by Dr. Maiko Xiong, Assistant Professor of Counselor Education, College of Education.
