Dear Colleagues,
Here is this week’s progress update for Wave 1 of the Job Families implementation at Tech. As a reminder, Wave 1 includes finance, human resources, IT, and research administration. As we shared last week, we’ve updated our communication approach based on employee input. We also invite you to visit the new Communications Hub on the Job Families & Career Pathing website.

What's Happening This Week
|
- Executive sponsors are conducting their final reviews of the position crosswalks with their leadership teams, critical stakeholders, and HR partners. They will provide updates and final approval to GTHR by Wednesday, Dec 11.
- HR Partners are working with leaders in their units to review the list of employees and identify:
|
| |
|
- Employees who are in the correct position and ready to be moved (crosswalked) into an equivalent position in the new job family or
- Employees who are currently in an incorrect position that need to be reviewed by HR Partners in collaboration with their supervisors, the unit executive, and finance partners to identify an appropriate solution.
-
HR Partners will provide their final employee lists to GTHR by Friday, Dec 13.
|
|
|
- The Wave 1 Position Crosswalk and Job Profile Structure Tool will be released on the Job Family website on Dec.18. The crosswalk “walks” current JCCS position titles to an equivalent position title in the new job family. The job profile includes the job responsibilities of the role. Individual employee information will not be displayed in the crosswalk.
- HR Partners will begin to enter job code transactions to update employee job titles. This will continue through January 17, 2025. The effective date for all transactions will be Dec. 1.

Begin to Prepare for Your New Job Family
|
-
During the job family implementation, employees will move from their current role into an equivalent role in the new job family. If you believe your current role is incorrect, reach out to your direct manager to discuss.
-
As you reflect on your achievements this past year, we encourage you to complete your self-assessment and what you value most about your work and your career. This self “check-in” will help you begin to prepare for our new career system where employees will have a clear framework to help them plan, navigate, and advance their careers.
-
Continue to visit the Job Families website to view recent updates including updated FAQs, Resources, and the Communications Hub.
|
We are excited about the opportunities our new career system will offer staff employees. We are grateful for your patience and engagement.
Sincerely,
Cedric Franklin, EdD
