With the help of the UT Research Foundation (UTRF), a 3D-printed tamper-evident box, named the TEL BOXX, went to market in September 2018 and is now used in 11 hospitals across eight states. The TEL BOXX protects IV lines from being used by patients to inject drugs during their hospital stays.

Revised IBC Charter and Operating Procedures

The UT-area Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) recently adopted an updated charter and several associated operating procedures. The documents may be found on the Biosafety website at either the polices page or the IBC page.

metallurgical engineering program
UT’s metallurgical engineering program is the top program in the US and sixth in the world for the second year in a row, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities. The program is within the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in the Tickle College of Engineering.

Daniel Berckmans, professor emeritus from Catholic University Leuven, Belgium will be giving a seminar presentation on precision livestock farming (PLF) Monday, August 12, with a Q&A to follow. Berckmans' research emphasizes the application of PLF technologies to real-time monitoring and assessment of animals.

Mariea Grubbs Hoy, DeForrest Jackson Professor in the School of Advertising and Public Relations in the College of Communication and Information, studied “sharenting,” a parent’s habitual use of social media to share news and images about their children. Her findings were published in the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing.
