- Reflection by Jason Reed
John 20:19
When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.’
Take a moment and be still and aware of God’s presence within and all around.
Recall the events of the day.
Of what are you afraid today?
In spite of locked doors, can you see Jesus standing in your midst?
In what ways have you heard Jesus saying, ‘Peace be with you’ this day?
Prayer
The stillness of God be mine this night
that I may sleep in peace.
The awareness of the angels be mine this night
that I may be alert to unseen mysteries.
The company of the saints be mine this night
that I may dream of the river of love.
The life of Christ be mine this night
that I may be truly alive to the morning
that I may be truly alive.
The prayer is from Celtic Benediction by J. Philip Newell (2000)
