April is Support WYSU Month: The theme for this spring's membership drive is DIRECT TO WYSU - it's a reminder that ALL of your donation directly supports the public radio programming you count on.
| |
WYSU is reliant on external funding sources for most of its operating expenses. When you give to WYSU you can rest assured that your donation to the station goes straight into the WYSU-FM membership fund which is used to pay for local and network program expenses. Those expenses include the programs we air, some of our on-air staff salaries, and broadcast equipment and software, all of which helps us to provide the best possible local public radio service. Without you as a donor, NONE of this happens, so we very much appreciate your continued support.
Our month-long April funding efforts will continue to be a mostly low-key affair, encouraging online donations for WYSU’s service of intelligent news and information programs, and the best classical and jazz music anywhere. We are sure to have a few surprises along the way!
Listener support for this treasured public radio service of northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania is more critical than ever. Please generously renew your yearly contribution to WYSU to help this unique community asset continue to thrive for many years to come.
We are here for you... Be there for us... Please give today! Remember, your gift will go DIRECT TO WYSU.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support.
Sincerely,
Gary Sexton, Director

| Get to Know... Jenny Tullis, Assistant Director & Classical Music Host
| |
Jenny Tullis is new to WYSU and to Northeast Ohio. Originally from Taylorville, Illinois, Jenny completed her Master's in Music Performance from Youngstown State University in the spring of 2023. She also holds a Bachelor's of Music Performance from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois.
Be sure to join Jenny for classical music weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Jenny's program will have something for everyone! Whether it's the Baroque era, Romantic era, or even something new; large ensemble or a solo musician, she'll share a program that has something you'll enjoy. Music has been a long-time passion of Jenny's. She first began learning music and playing the saxophone when she was nine years old. Not coming from a family of musicians, no one expected it to stick!
While her collegiate studies were primarily focused around the saxophone, Jenny also developed an interest in research about protest music and has presented her projects multiple times in the Youngstown area. Jenny feels passionately about the accessibility of public radio and classical music, and feels grateful to be in a position that works to provide these to the community for free.
Jenny is elated to be a part of WYSU and to share her passion for classical music with the staff and with listeners, while growing her relationship with the Youngstown region. Outside of work, Jenny enjoys visiting museums and appreciating other art forms, reading, exercising, baking, spending time outdoors, and rooting for the Youngstown Phantoms hockey team. Having not lived in the area long, she is always interested to hear about restaurants, events, activities, and other things in the valley that she "just HAS to check out"!
