Their current mission statement highlights the importance of breeding and raising animals and farm products for the benefit of the public as well as promoting and maintaining agricultural research and educational functions.
Did you know that the Livestock Show & Rodeo has been operating in Pasadena since the late 1940s? In 1949, the United States had entered a post-war status and Pasadena was a small town of approximately 10,000 residents, not to mention an abundance of horses and farmland. The founders of the rodeo, a group of several Pasadena businessmen, created the event to bring the citizens of Pasadena together.
They wanted to illustrate how the cowboys and businessmen could work together successfully. Pasadena was also beginning to boom as an industrial community.
