Tufts Student Life
Welcome from Dean of Students Camille Lizarríbar
September 14, 2022
Dear SMFA Student,
Welcome to fall 2022 and a new academic year! Whether you are new or returning to the SMFA, we are excited to have you here, and to encourage and support your creativity, growth, and wellbeing.
This academic year we have new people in Student Affairs to introduce to you.
Maiyah Rivers, Assistant Director of Student Affairs at SMFA (Maiyah.Rivers@tufts.edu) will play a key role in developing and implementing social programs for students. In addition, she will advise SMFA student organizations and create events to support the SMFA student experience. You can find Maiyah on the second floor of the SMFA near the Student Services Window.
Stephen Green, Associate Director of Student Affairs at SMFA (stephen.green@tufts.edu) is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SMFA Student Affairs office for both undergraduate and graduate students. His responsibilities include hiring, training, and supervising student affairs assistants to manage the SMFA Student Affairs service window; advising Student Government Association; overseeing student support, resources, and referrals to campus partners as well as managing orientation programs and new student experiences. He will lead the SMFA/Fenway Orientation Committee and represent SMFA on the larger Tufts Orientation planning committee. Stephen’s office is located directly across from the Student Services Window.
I am also happy to share that Residential Life Coordinator Victoria Medeiros (victoria.medeiros@tufts.edu) is dedicated to the Beacon Street residential halls. Victoria enjoys getting students connected with campus resources and helping students find clubs/organizations that get themselves out of their comfort zone.
Colin Buckley, SMFA Student Services Coordinator (SMFAStudentAffairs@tufts.edu) continues his role as the SMFA Student Services Coordinator. Colin is the key person to contact with questions about locker rentals, RhinoBucks cards, or Review Board scheduling. You can find him at the SMFA Student Affairs Service window on the second floor of the SMFA. I want to give him a shout out for all of his excellent contributions over the summer in getting SMFA ready to welcome you to campus.
Maiyah, Stephen, Victoria, and Colin look forward to guiding and mentoring you. In addition to these four talented individuals, we are also in the process of recruiting an Associate Dean of Student Affairs for SMFA. We anticipate that this person will be joining us before the end of this semester.
Student Affairs is multifaceted
I just introduced the folks on my team who are solely dedicated to you as an SMFA student. However, I want you to know that Student Affairs is multifaceted. Through our programs and initiatives, our focus is to help you develop life skills that will empower you to be engaged and productive at Tufts and beyond. Some of these resources include:
Student Affairs also encompasses the Career Center, the Office for Campus Life, Residential Life and Learning, Community Standards, and my office itself.  You can learn about what each office does and who to contact on our website.
I would welcome an opportunity to get to know you and hope that our paths cross soon.
With my best wishes,
Camille Lizarríbar, JD, PhD
Dean of Students for AS&E
