Add Your Diploma Name

Dear Undergraduate Degree Candidate,

We are continuing our preparations for Commencement 2026 and are looking forward to celebrating with you!

We shared details about ordering caps, gowns and regalia last month.

As a reminder, the deadline to order online was March 1 but purchases can still be made in person at the bookstore beginning April 8. As Commencement approaches, sizing for in store purchases may be limited.

As we look ahead to this year’s ceremony, we’re excited to continue honoring those who completed a Senior Honors Thesis with special cords that highlight that achievement. At the same time, beginning this year, we will no longer provide cords for Latin Honors. Your Latin Honors will still appear proudly on your diploma and official transcript, and the criteria for earning them remain exactly the same. This change ensures that everyone participating in Commencement is celebrated in a more equitable and unified way.

Verify Your Diploma Name

May and August degree candidates, please confirm the spelling of your name as you wish it to appear on your diploma and in the Commencement book:

Log into SIS
Go to the About Me tab
Click the pencil icon next to your name
Select Add Name → choose the name type Diploma Name
Update and save

You may include your full middle name or initial (with a period, if desired), as well as accent marks or special characters.

All diploma names will be reviewed for compliance with the Tufts Preferred Name Policy. Tufts allows the use of a preferred name on certain records as long as it is not used for misrepresentation and complies with state and federal law.

Upcoming Information & Reminders

Additional Commencement Day details will be shared in late March. In the meantime, please review the following:

Update Your “Other” Email Address: Please review your About Me details in SIS to ensure your alternate email address is current so we can reach you after graduation.
Email for Life: Alumni (Class of 2015 and later) may keep their @tufts.edu email address and forward incoming messages to a personal account. Please follow the email forwarding instructions and save any messages you wish to keep, as emails will be deleted from Tufts servers after graduation.
Commencement Tickets: In early spring, you will receive information about the ticket request system. Each graduate may request up to six (6) guest tickets. Tickets are required for most Commencement weekend events and free of charge. Additional details regarding tickets for commencement are available online.
Commencement Boxed Lunch Tickets: Each graduate is eligible to reserve three complimentary boxed lunch tickets. One ticket is to be used by the graduate; the other two are for the graduate’s guests. More information is available online, including ticketing dates and options to purchase additional boxed lunches.
