CONNECTIONS SERIES: MEET THE AUTHOR, MADELINE HOGE
Please join us for a historical presentation, book reading, Q & A and book signing from
Madeline Hoge, author of Sleeping In The Valley.
Madeline will present on her first published book about the historical tales of Belle-Hampton. The Historical home and family farm, Belle-Hampton is located in Pulaski County, VA and was built in 1826. It was also the home of James Hoge Tyler, Governor of Virginia, from 1898 to 1902.
Madeline brings to life the Scottish and English family ancestors who settled in Southwest Virginia to make a new life for themselves. Their life stories uncovered generations later; while our genes make us who we are, learning about our ancestors' history can profoundly impact our identity today and into the future.

TIPS FOR EATING WELL FOR YOUR BODY AND THE PLANET
As we celebrate National Nutrition Month, it's a perfect time to discover how your dietary choices can improve your health and contribute to our planet's well-being.
- Go flexitarian - Flexibility with plant- and animal-based foods can improve your well-being and the planet's.
- Eat locally - Buying locally grown food provides better nutrition, supports the local economy and helps the environment.
- Reduce food waste - Healthy and sustainable eating can be achieved when you plan your menu for the coming week and shop according to plan. This also saves time (i.e., less trips to the store for forgotten/missing ingredients) and money. Reducing food waste saves money, time, the planet and your health.
National Nutrition Month 2024 resources for professionals include tip sheets on eating right on a budget, reducing food waste and healthy eating tips for seniors.
