Through a partnership with Terracycle, St. B’s now collects coffee bags and chip bags/candy wrappers onsite. Paid for from the creation care budget, these bins allow us to keep some of our most-generated trash out of the landfill. See “Do One Thing” below for more info.

Join us on Thursday, July 16, 5:30–7:30 p.m. in Wallace Hall for a screening and discussion of Sugarcane, a National Geographic documentary examining the legacy of religious boarding schools for Native American children. This event is a follow-up to our recent Indigenous Peoples class. If you missed the class or want to revisit the material, handouts and slideshows and audio/video recordings are available online.

• Take hard-to-recycle materials to collection centers around town.

CC research and/or admin tasks: Doable from home (computer/phone) on your flexible schedule, approx. 1-2 hours/week, or as you can. Contact Gretchen.

At Travecca’s Urban Farm Bike Shop, you can fix up your old bike or donate it or any bike parts. The Bike Shop (at 49 Hart Street) operates as a community-focused, nonprofit workshop where youth and community members can repair or build bikes. Open Thursdays from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. For more information, see Facebook or Instagram. 

Styrofoam recycling is now available in Nashville! It must be dropped off at East Convenience Center for foam recycling. Or you can bring yours to St. B’s and every month Aidan Sullivan will take it to the East Center. Put it in the labeled bin in the recycling closet in the gym.

Rule of thumb for what’s accepted:

• rigid and snaps when bent; 
• no wrap or packing peanuts.
• includes all sized foam coolers; blocks around furniture, appliances, or electronics 
• remove tape, foil, or adhesives.

East Center also accepts food-service foam; egg cartons; meat & produce foam trays; plates and cups; takeout containers - but we can already recycle all of that at St. B’s through our regular recycling service, Earth Savers.
