PDX People Honored at Customer Service Awards
PDX People are ready to provide exceptional customer service whether there's a medical emergency, a car left with a window down in the rain or a grieving family in need of special accommodations. For airport employees, making PDX warm, welcoming and safe is all part of their daily duties, even if circumstances for their visitors are out of the ordinary.
To recognize actions that truly stand out as extraordinary and support our core values – being friendly, knowledgeable and respectful – we host the PDX People customer service awards each quarter. Read the stories of the airport employees honored from April through June 2023 or watch the event recording.

What's New with PDX Next: International Arrivals Route Change
International Arrivals: As you may have heard, there’s a new path in place for international arrivals. The re-route takes arriving passengers out onto the north end of the lower roadway, then through a new outdoor corridor and into the first door to baggage claim. This change will remain in place through mid-2025 and is part of the north bag claim construction zone. ABM employees and PDX volunteers will be on hand to help passengers with directions.
Looking for more PDX Next information? We're keeping you in the know on what's new on the PDX People website. Have questions or suggestions about construction? Email hello@pdxnext.com or call the construction hotline at 503.460.4339.

Alaska Airlines to Bring Back Daily Portland-Redmond Direct Flights
Alaska Airlines announced that its daily flights between PDX and Redmond Airport will return for the winter months, a sign that market conditions continue to improve. The regional carrier will operate the route from Nov. 29 through April 10, when roads between Portland and Redmond can be especially tough to travel due to inclement weather. “We’ve seen regional air service change over the last few years,” Kirsten Amrine, VP of network planning, said. “To ensure smaller cities remain connected, we have to think creatively, and working collaboratively with community leaders is key.”

TriMet Gets $630K Grant Toward Rapid Transit on Portland’s 82nd Avenue
TriMet is one step closer to revamping public transit on one of Portland’s busiest and most dangerous roads. The Federal Transit Administration awarded TriMet a $630,000 grant that will go toward helping the agency build a rapid transit line on 82nd Avenue – a major artery that runs through east Portland. The existing bus route, Line 72, is the busiest transit line in the Portland area. Officials hope to build a frequent express line similar to the one TriMet recently began operating on Southeast Division Street.

Over the weekend, the Port of Portland – along with our friends at the Autism Society of Oregon, United Airlines and TSA – hosted Passport to Inclusion, a travel preparation scavenger hunt for travelers with disabilities and their families or companions. We welcomed over 100 participants! Big thanks to everyone who helped make the day a success for the families, as these efforts are important to keep PDX welcoming and inclusive to all.
