Neil Teller
Neil Teller Answers the Call for Top Notch Customer Service
For one PDX guest, being heard and treated with respect by Dollar Car Rental's Neil Teller (he/him) turned a difficult travel day around:
"Neil at Dollar Car Rental did an exceptional job of helping to get me where I needed to go. I was caught up in the holiday nightmare of air travel, and I was extremely frustrated, upset and exhausted. Neil helped calm me down and got my arrangements in order so I could get to where I needed to be with minimal hassle.
By this point, my travel plans were ruined, and I was at the end of my patience after calling airlines, rentals and other reservations. Neil was literally the only person I spoke to that day who made me feel like a valued customer who was being heard.
I wish there were more customer service representatives out there like Neil. He probably doesn't even remember helping me, but his compassion and professionalism made my holiday brighter, and I wish I could thank him for that. Thank you."

What's New with PDX Next: Ticket Lobby, D/E Exit Lane and Noise Update
Ticket Lobby: Impacts in the ticket lobby continue as workers connect the new roof to the existing one. Currently, they're installing overhead protection to keep everyone safe when demolition occurs. This work runs through the end of June during overnight hours, 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
As materials are delivered to the ticket lobby, the two lanes closest to the terminal will be blocked. This will be during late night hours, 11 p.m. to 3 a.m., on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Starting today through Monday, June 19, overhead protection will be installed above the Southwest ticket counters – this includes erecting towers, a deck and lighting under the deck, and will take place after Southwest counters close for the night. Once this work is finished, installations will proceed south.
D/E Exit LaneAlso in the ticket lobby, a small portion of the D/E exit lane will narrow when a scissor lift is in use. This work is during overnight hours, 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., through Friday, June 23.
Noise UpdateWe previously shared that noisy demolition would start next week, but it’s now delayed until mid-July. Please keep in mind that all dates are targeted and could change at any time.

Pride Month Celebration at PDXJoin the PDX community, in partnership with the Port of Portland's LGBTQx+ employee resource group, to celebrate Pride Month. At 10 a.m., meet your fellow PDX People for a procession through the airport, starting at Elephant's Deli in the ticket lobby. If you can't join the walk, keep your eyes out for the participants, as they'll be covering the airport – from the ticket lobby to baggage claim to the Rental Car Center – handing out PDX People and Pride swag including flags, pins, t-shirts, stickers and treats.

June Marks Pride Month
June is designated nationally as Pride Month to commemorate the struggle for civil rights and ongoing pursuit of equal justice under the law for the LGBTQIA2S+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and/or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Two-Spirit) community, as well learn about and recognize the accomplishments of LGBTQIA2S+ individuals. The event that catalyzed the gay rights movement happened in June 1969, when police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in the Greenwich Village section of New York City. In response, the street erupted into violent protests that lasted for the next six days. The Stonewall riots, as they came to be known, marked a major turning point in the modern gay civil rights movement in the United States and around the world.
Pride is especially critical this year, as noted in this year’s Presidential proclamation: "Today, our Nation faces another inflection point. In 2023 alone, State and local legislatures have already introduced over 600 hateful laws targeting the LGBTQI+ community."
Take this time to celebrate the LGBTQIA2S+ community and reflect on the many ways you can honor Pride Month. Continue to provide an inclusive, respectful experience for visitors to PDX, your co-workers and your customers. Watch this presentation by Chuck Bernsohn (they/them) on gender diversity, language, norms and creating a culture of inclusivity. You can also watch a documentary about LGBTQIA2S+ icon Martha P. Johnson or one about the Stonewall uprising.
