Dr. Philip J. Pettis, '23
Dr. Philip J. "PJ" Pettis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Michigan State University (MSU). He is highly passionate about teaching and empowers his students to succeed. His dedication and exceptional teaching skills led MSU Sociology Chair, Carla Pfeffer, to nominate him for the 2024 College of Social Science Outstanding Teaching Award, which he won. Dr. Pettis joined the department in 2022 after earning a Ph.D. in Sociology from Vanderbilt University and is also a licensed social worker.

Thank you to Dr. Megan Jordan for participating in our first-ever Alumni Takeover!
On March 21, Dr. Jordan, who earned her Ph.D. in Sociology in 2022, took Graduate School students on a day-in-the-life journey of her post-graduate school career on The Graduate School's Instagram account! She is currently a Presidential Postdoctoral Scholar at Ohio State University.

The second annual Honors Banquet commemorated excellence in academics, leadership, and innovation among Graduate School students and faculty. The banquet on March 18 honored and reflected on the remarkable achievements in research and creative expression from the more than 50 graduate programs and departments represented in the Graduate School.
