CNSI has announced the next round of SEED-TECH funding aimed at technology translation.

The CNSI SEED-TECH Grants provide faculty with funding to support a demonstration of commercial value and/or commercial viability for UCSB technology, and to develop the technology towards a marketable outcome. Ultimately the SEED-TECH grants should enable one or more of the following:

These awards can support direct costs of up to $50,000 over a period of 12 months. Up to 2 grants may be awarded in this round. Progress will be assessed via a combination of meetings and written reports.

The DOE SC program in Basic Energy Sciences (BES) announces its interest in receiving applications from single investigators/small groups (up to $500K per year) and from large teams (over $500K per year) for support of experimental and theoretical efforts to advance materials and chemical sciences research for quantum information science (QIS). Large teams must have multiple investigators and may have multiple institutions. Applications must focus on the Priority Research Opportunities for experimental and theoretical research identified in the BES Roundtable Reports: Basic Energy Sciences Roundtable on Opportunities for Quantum Computing in Chemical and Materials Sciences or Basic Energy Sciences Roundtable on Opportunities for Basic Research for Next-Generation Quantum Systems

The FY19 Defense Appropriations Act provides $350 million to the Department of Defense Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP) to support or medical research projects of clear scientific merit and direct relevance to military health.
