There are a few upcoming opportunities to support undergraduate researchers as they prepare for and participate in the upcoming Vanderbilt Undergraduate Research Symposium (VURS). If you’re interested in getting involved, please consider volunteering for one of the following activities:
Poster Reviewers Needed (Online)
Volunteers will review student posters online through InfoReady between March 26 and April 1 by 5:00 p.m. Reviewers will be assigned up to six posters, with each review estimated to take about 15–20 minutes.
You are welcome to serve as a reviewer even if a student you mentor is presenting, we will ensure that reviewers are not assigned their own students’ submissions. When signing up, you will be able to indicate topic areas where you feel comfortable providing feedback, and efforts will be made to match reviewers accordingly.
Please complete the reviewer sign-up form by March 20. If you volunteer, we kindly ask that you honor the April 1 at 5:00 p.m. review deadline so that awards and notifications can be finalized before the event.
Poster Workshop Volunteers
Volunteers are also needed for a poster workshop on March 17 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in Kissam 210. During this session, volunteers will work with small groups of students to provide feedback on poster design and presentation. Students will bring draft posters on laptops or tablets and may be at various stages of preparation.
You do not need to be available for the full two hours to participate. Please sign up by March 13 if you are interested.
To avoid potential conflicts of interest during poster review, please volunteer for only one of the opportunities above.
Attend the Symposium
Whether or not you are able to volunteer, you are warmly invited to attend the symposium and support the students as they present their work. The event will take place April 8 from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the Student Life Center Commodore Ballroom.
Thank you for considering ways to support our undergraduate research community.
