Jess Guthrie has been appointed as the Associate Director for Leadership and Service. Formerly the Assistant Director for Leadership and Service, Jess has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership in her role. She will continue to lead the Community Engaged Care program, manage the Campus Cupboard, and facilitate volunteer service opportunities across UT Health Science Center. In her expanded role, Jess will also oversee registered student organizations and student organization activities. Congratulations Jess on this well-deserved promotion!
Dr. Cheryl Stampley, Associate Director, Student Counseling, and Carla Gool, Assistant Director, Student Wellness and CARE Navigator recently presented at the Thrive Together: Mental Health and Student Retention Workshop held at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. Their presentation, titled “Pathways to Persistence: Improving Retention by Fostering Help-Seeking Behaviors,” provided valuable insights to educators, administrators, and student success leaders on the importance of mental health in academic achievement and retention.
Additionally, Dr. Stampley and Carla Gool also participated in a panel discussion on strategies for supporting mental health, sharing their expertise on programs and initiatives to support student well-being, best practices for creating a supportive campus environment, and the collaboration between faculty, staff, and mental health professionals.
