Claudia Alonzo, director of Community Care and Standards and a current student in the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) program in the Eriksson College of Education, has been recognized by the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network (TSPN) for her outstanding mental health advocacy.
Alonzo received the TSPN's Mid-Cumberland Regional Award for her work in building a culture of support on campus, which includes hosting free QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Gatekeeper Training sessions that equip students, faculty, and staff to help those in crisis. We are incredibly proud of the life-saving work she is doing for our university community.

Austin Peay marks esports debut with tiebreaker win over MTSU
Austin Peay's Govs Gaming esports team recently clinched a thrilling tiebreaker victory against Middle Tennessee State University in their first-ever competition, taking home a trophy and a $2,500 prize.
The team, which includes sophomore English education major Judex Jeanphilippe, won a four-match Tekken 8 competition at CDE Lightband’s F2CON earlier this month. The club's staff advisor is Meagan Potts, a proud graduate of the Eriksson College of Education’s M.A.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction: Instructional Technology program. We are thrilled to see our students and alumni leading the way!
