Huntsville Commands Space
Huntsville and Redstone Arsenal received the much-anticipated announcement on Tuesday that President Donald Trump is moving Space Command headquarters to the Rocket City from Colorado Springs. Mayor Tommy Battle and community leaders gathered at City Hall to watch the announcement from the Oval Office, then held a media roundtable on Wednesday.

Bicycling Through Downtown Huntsville
Council Member Bill Kling recently joined the Huntsville Bicycle Advisory and Safety Committee (BASC) for a bike ride through downtown Huntsville. The group covered about five miles, starting at the Madison County Courthouse and riding to the historic Five Points neighborhood before returning to the courthouse. BASC is made up of local cyclists and City of Huntsville staff who meet monthly to raise awareness, plan initiatives and advocate for a more bike-friendly community.

HPD Special Operations Division  
Huntsville Police Department’s (HPD) Special Operations Division is moving to a renovated location at 2411 9th Ave. near Lowe Mill. The move will accommodate growing operations and improve coordination among specialized units. The new space was formerly the General Services Projects Office. Parks & Recreation operates out of the second floor.

Behind the Scenes: HFR Station 6
Huntsville Fire & Rescue (HFR) Station 6 at 2810 Drake Ave. SW is one of HFR’s busier stations, responding to calls throughout the South District. That heavy activity fosters a strong bond among the crews at Station 6. Check out the video and learn more about one of District 4’s HFR stations from Capt. Drew Sanderson.

Huntsville's Ms. Senior Alabama
At the Aug. 28 meeting, Council Member Kling recognized Sonja Enfinger for representing Huntsville as a delegate in the Ms. Senior Alabama Court. Ms. Senior Alabama is an organization that celebrates and empowers senior women, providing a platform for delegates to share their wisdom, grow their networks and contribute to community outreach.

Making a Difference at Merrimack
Council Member Kling joined a group of 15 volunteers that made a big impact during the Merrimack Clean-Up Day last month. A Green Team event, 22 bags of litter was collected and 25 fire hydrants were painted. Thank you to everyone who participated in making a neighborhood look a little more beautiful.

Recognizing Fountain of Life Ministries
At the Aug. 14 meeting, Council Member Kling recognized Fountain Of Life Ministries, 4015 Triana Blvd., for their longstanding service to West Huntsville and the entire community. In his remarks, Council Member Kling expressed heartfelt gratitude and commended the organization for its enduring commitment to uplifting and supporting residents.

Grooving Through Music Month in September
If it’s September, it’s Music Month in Huntsville. And there will be no shortage of opportunities to enjoy live music at free events throughout the month. Hosted by the Huntsville Music Office, Music Month boosts Huntsville’s creative economy, enhances the City’s reputation as a music-friendly hub, and provides valuable resources for musicians.

Major Street Plan Updated
Keeping traffic flowing smoothly throughout Huntsville is a big job for the City. The Planning Department recently presented an updated Major Street Plan that received unanimous approval. The plan highlighted recent road improvements and high-traffic corridors while also providing an outline of planned roads, such as the continuation of the Northern Bypass east of Memorial Parkway.

Council Member Kling will hold his monthly drop-in office hours on Monday, Sept. 15, from 6-7 p.m. at the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library downtown branch. Drop in for a conversation about D4 and share your insights about how to make Huntsville its best.
