It was COLD last week: thanks to all of you (and lots of other students, faculty, and staff at UIC) for sharing how you describe cold weather in the language(s) you speak. Check out Latin, Lithuanian, Basque, Catalan, Farsi, Yoruba, and many more on LCLC Instagram from last week. Want to add your languages? Send your expressions or proverbs about cold weather to lclc@uic.edu and we’ll post them. Fun idioms welcome (“It’s a three-dog night again tonight…”).
Special events in 308 GH this week include a Lunar New Year party today, Chair Yoga en français (Wednesday 1-2), English Conversation Hour hosted by the UIC Tutorium, plus many more weekly events. Schedule your own language or culture event: lclc@uic.edu.
Thanks to the wonderful volunteers who helped LCLC staff publicize all LCSL programs at last week’s Winter Involvement Fair. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with students from all over UIC: you might see students around wearing buttons that say I 🧡 Portuguese, for example!
Peer Tutoring in Spanish, French, German, and Italian starts this week! BLP students in those languages can check the Drop-in Tutoring Schedule and drop in any time a tutor is listed, no appointment necessary.
Looking forward to seeing everyone from the LCSL community at LCLC events this semester!
