Dear parents and families,

It was great to have so many of you join us for Move-in and family orientation. The chancellor and I enjoyed meeting many of you and your students at the various events and activities.

On Saturday, August 22 at 7:30 p.m. CDT, your student will take part in Convocation 2026. Convocation is WashU's official welcome ceremony for new students — it is when the incoming class comes together for the first time to celebrate the beginning of the new academic year. This event is for students only, but you are welcome to watch via livestream.

I would also like to share A Family's Guide to the First Semester. This guide can help you understand what your student is likely to experience during their first semester on campus.

Finally, please save the date for Parent & Family Weekend 2026, taking place October 30–November 1. We look forward to having you back on campus, and more details will be available soon.
