How Has the Russia-Ukraine War Changed the International Security Environment?

On Monday, February 27, at 5:30 p.m. in Cabot Intercultural Center ASEAN Auditorium, please join the Russia and Eurasia Program and the Center for Strategic Studies at The Fletcher School for a panel discussion marking the one-year anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine war. The event is chaired by Professor Monica Toft, and panelists will include Professor Daniel Drezner, Professor Kelly Greenhill, and visiting scholars Pavel Luzin and Volodymyr Dubovyk. GSAS Community Fellows Mentor Meet-and-Greet

Join the GSAS Community Fellows for a Mentor Matchmaking event on Tuesday, February 28, at 4 p.m. in the SEC Atrium. This event brings together undergraduate and graduate students for a fun-filled evening of mingling and speed-dating style conversations. With five to 10 minutes to chat before switching partners, you'll have the chance to meet new people and expand your network in a lively and dynamic atmosphere. Take this opportunity to make connections that will help you thrive both personally and professionally!

New England Women in Energy and the Environment (NEWIEE) on Campus

On Tuesday, February 28, at 5 p.m. in Joyce Cummings Center Rooms 120 and 160, New England Women in Energy and the Environment (NEWIEE) members will join Tufts University students for a panel conversation about careers in the energy and environment industry, followed by informal networking and Q&A. All students are welcome to attend!

Union Pasts and Environmental Futures in the Flint Water Crisis

The water crisis that hit Flint, Michigan, eight years ago (and continues today) is embedded in a broader crisis of deindustrialization in Flint, where thousands of car manufacturing jobs have disappeared in recent decades. This lecture on Thursday, March 2, at 12 noon in the Curtis Hall Multipurpose Room will explore how labor struggles have become symbolically important in Flint's fight for clean water. This event is part of Tufts Environmental Studies' weekly environmental lectures. Free pizza will be served.

Women Take The Reel Film Festival At Tufts University, Co-sponsored by FMS

On Thursday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m. at Barnum Hall LL08, attend a film screening featuring the award-winning documentary feature Brainwashed: Sex-Camera-Power, preceded by the new Half the History short film Tapping Into Our Past, Tapping Into Our Future: Ayodele Casel. Following the screening, there will be a discussion/Q&A with the filmmaker, Nina Menkes, moderated by Harvard Square Script Writers Director Genine Tillotson. Hosted by Jennifer Burton, Tufts Professor of the Practice.

Career Fellow Information Session

Are you knowledgeable about resumes and cover letters? Do you enjoy working with students? Do you want to be part of a collaborative student team? Come to our information session this Friday, March 3, at 12 noon–1 p.m. at the Dowling Hall Milmore Room to hear from current Career Fellows about what it's like to work as a Fellow on the Medford Campus. This information session is for students on the Medford/Somerville campus only, although the Career Center is also hiring an SMFA fellow. Apply by March 12 to be considered.

Academic Reminders

Wednesday, March 1, is the deadline for Arts & Sciences sophomores to declare their majors. Find the form to declare your major.
Are you still undecided? Reach out to your advising team, review the step-by-step major declaration guide, or stop by drop-in advising if you have questions about the major declaration process.
The deadline for AS&E students to make up incompletes from the fall 2022 semester is Wednesday, March 1.

Get Your Tickets to TEDxTufts 2023

TEDxTufts is delighted to present our 9th annual conference "[De/Re] Construct"! This year's conference will take place at the Joyce Cummings Center on March 11 and 12 starting at 1 p.m. Tickets for each day will be sold separately and will be available starting March 1 at 10 a.m. Get your tickets on Tufts Tickets or the TEDxTufts website!

Laidlaw Scholars Application Deadline: EXTENDED to March 9

The application deadline for the Laidlaw Undergraduate Research and Leadership Program has been extended to March 9 at 11:59 p.m. The Laidlaw Scholarship funds undergraduate students over the course of two consecutive summers. Scholars are supported for 6 weeks the first summer, working closely with a faculty mentor of their choosing. The second summer, Scholars participate in an engaging project to build their leadership skills outside of the lab during a leadership or research expedition.

Dowling Hall Garage Repairs to Start March 17

Floors 1 through 3, including the 419 Boston Avenue entrance, will be closed for repairs starting March 17.
