Big Red teams garner national rankings

Entering the conference championship meet in Granville next week, Denison’s women’s swimming & diving team is ranked No. 1 in the nation, leading second-ranked Emory, third-ranked Kenyon, and fourth-ranked Williams. The men’s team currently sits at No. 2, right behind Kenyon and just ahead of third-ranked Johns Hopkins and fourth-ranked MIT.
In addition, several Denison spring-sport varsity teams have been recognized in preseason national rankings. The men’s lacrosse team is listed as No. 8 in both the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association preseason coaches’ poll and the U.S. Lacrosse Magazine preseason rankings.
The Big Red baseball squad has been ranked No. 9 in the Collegiate Baseball News preseason poll and is No. 12 in the D3baseball.com preseason Top-25.
The DU women’s golf team currently is ranked No. 21, and men's golf sits at No. 22. Women’s lacrosse also enters its 2020 season at No. 22.
The Denison tennis teams are ranked, as well, with the women checking in at No. 25 in the nation, and the men earning a No. 26 ranking.

Let’s honor a Big Red Hero!

You now have a chance to honor one of the most impactful individuals ever to serve in the Denison Athletic Department.
As the college’s longtime athletic trainer, Dale Googins influenced the lives of countless student-athletes during his tenure at Denison. Now, we are establishing a scholarship in Dale’s name for a student majoring in Health, Exercise, and Sports Studies (HESS), and commemorating in perpetuity Dale’s outstanding service to the college and its athletes by naming the training suite after him.
The fundraising goal for this project is $500,000, and we are well on our way, with loyal alumni and friends of the college contributing more than $350,000 toward that goal so far.
If Dale influenced your life or the life of someone you know, either as a Big Red athlete or trainer, or in life after Denison, we hope you will support this effort with a tax-deductible donation.
You can learn more about the project and make your gift honoring Dale online here, or you can contact Laura Frame in Institutional Advancement at Denison at framel@denison.edu or 740-587-6291 to make a gift.
I thank you in advance for your support,

The Big Red hit the Big Road this spring

Denison’s spring sports teams are traveling to a number of locations, including both coasts, to compete during spring break from March 14 through 22.
If the Big Red are heading to your neck of the woods, or if you happen to be vacationing in one of these areas, please consider coming out to support our student-athletes as they represent our “fair college on the hill.”
Here's the rundown of where they’ll be, with links to each team’s respective 2020 schedules.
Softball - Oahu, Hawaii
Baseball - Port Charlotte, Fla.
Women’s Golf - Orlando and Palm City, Fla.
Men’s Golf - Orlando and Palm City, Fla.
Women’s Lacrosse - Colorado Springs, Colo.
Men’s Lacrosse - Owings Mills, Md., and Alexandria, Va.
Women’s Tennis - Fredericksburg, Va., and Whittier and Los Angeles, Calif.
Men’s Tennis - Claremont, Calif.
Women’s Swimming & Diving - NCAA Nationals in Greensboro, N.C.
Men’s Swimming & Diving - NCAA Nationals in Greensboro, N.C.
There are plenty of other chances to see Denison’s athletes in action at their other away contests throughout the spring season, so check out their schedules to see if they’re coming your way — or consider making your own road trip to Granville to see the Big Red compete at home. The campus is always beautiful in the spring, and the weather is (sometimes) perfect!

Support Denison Big Red Athletics

The extraordinary momentum that Denison is realizing campus-wide is mirrored by the success we are experiencing in athletics. In addition to winning a conference-record 17th NCAC All-Sports trophy this year, Denison is now one of only 12 liberal arts colleges nationally, and the only one in the Midwest, to be ranked in the top-50 of both the U.S. News & World Report and the Learfield Director's Cup Division III standings.
Denison is keeping good company within this elite group, alongside Amherst, Bates, Bowdoin, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Middlebury, Pomona-Pitzer, Washington & Lee, Wesleyan, and Williams. Your gift in support of Denison Athletics will help fund things that otherwise might not be possible: training and recruitment trips, team travel, equipment and uniforms, continuing education for coaches, special team awards, and so much more.
Thank you for your help in ensuring that our scholar-athletes can continue to compete at the highest level.
