Winter break is the perfect time to curl up with a warm beverage and a good book. So, we asked several members of the campus community for recommendations. Their selections range from a look at the lives of barred owls, to a series of essays by Alexander Hamilton and James Madison explaining provisions of the Constitution in detail, to a memoir by actor Andrew McCarthy.

Academic research is a necessary and difficult part of a tenure track position at a top research university like Georgia Tech. Faculty members offer their tips for success.

This is the first year the program has been open to senior and principal non-tenure track faculty and research faculty.

At 72 years old, Alan Nussbaum recently earned his Ph.D. from Georgia Tech in computer science with a minor in electrical engineering. Although the degree took him 11 years to complete, Nussbaum said the concepts he learned and the lifelong relationships he formed made it all worth it.

Employees now have a digitized system to help track annual career goals. The self-assessment period runs through Jan. 31, 2024. Staff should log in to review the goals they set earlier in the year and prepare for evaluations conducted by their supervisors.

This year’s theme, “Workforce Development Is Everyone’s Business,” encourages all employees to develop new knowledge and skills and take charge of their learning.
