Connect with Your SOL :-)

CALS Student Orientation Leaders (SOLs) have been where you are: they know what it's like to be a new student, to have lots of questions, and to not know many other people.

Stay in touch with your SOL over the summer, get to know other new students, and start to build your CALS community.

UArizona Email: Did you read the first edition of the SOL Tips & Tricks Newsletter?
GroupMe: Are you among the hundreds of students who've joined their SOL's GroupMe? If so, you're already making connections. Haven't joined yet? It's not too late!
Drop-in Hours: Have a question about campus life, classes, faculty, or anything else? Visit your SOL during virtual drop-in hours!
The Fun Stuff: SOLs are hard at work planning fun events for July! Participate in one or all three: Pet Show & Tell, Arts & Crafts Day, or Disney Kahoot!

Apply to CALS ASEMS: Deadline is July 9

Are you interested in being part of a nationally recognized, research-focused scholars program where eligible STEM students are matched with a peer mentor, faculty partners, free tutoring, and access to next-level opportunities?

There’s only a few days left to apply for CALS ASEMS – the deadline is Friday, July 9. Don’t miss out! Eligibility is open to new first-year and new transfer students in specific CALS majors.

Not sure if you’re eligible? Check with your advisor, SOL, or directly with Teresa Cortez. Eligibility criteria is also listed on the CALS ASEMS website.

CALS 195C: One-Unit Success Course

New first-year and transfer students are encouraged to sign up for CALS 195C where you’ll focus on skills and information to help you succeed in your classes and future career.

Even better? All students enrolled in CALS 195C are assigned an academic peer mentor. Called CALS PALS, you'll meet with your peer mentor three times in the fall semester to build academic success skills.

CALS Connections brings undergraduate students in our college, new and seasoned, together through on-campus mentorship!

Powered by Mentor Collective, an international online mentoring community, CALS Connections is our largest peer mentor program with more than 100 CALS students volunteering as peer mentors.
The connection opportunity is based on your schedule – just an hour or so a month. Students connect via text and chat about clubs to join, best places to study, ZonaZoo – anything campus life related.
