Clemson research uncover why some fecal transplants fail to treat C. difficile infections |
Taking antibiotics can kill “good” bacteria along with the bad, allowing an overgrowth of opportunistic, disease-causing bacteria such as Clostridiodes difficile. An effective treatment option for recurrent C. diff infections is fecal microbiota transplant, but it doesn’t work for everybody. Clemson researchers Anna Seekatz and Sophie Millard are discovering why.
