Director's Message

Happy New Year! 2026 is off to an exciting start for San Clemente Surf wrapping up our 2025 season with tournaments, SOCAL State Cup and tryout season underway.

Congratulations to all the teams who kicked off the new year with participation in the local CPL Awareness Tournament. We had strong performances by several teams. Boys 2015 (White) and Boys 2012 were Champions for their bracket and Boys 2015 (Blue) were also Finalists.

Many of our club teams are commencing their SOCAL State Cup competitions beginning with our youngest teams this month. We wish them all well in their games and look forward to sharing stories and celebrating successes in our next newsletter and on our News Website Page.

During our recent ZONE 1 2026 Tryouts we saw a 58% increase of new players evaluating SC Surf Soccer Club for the 2026 season. This is an impressive number above and beyond our current club and recreation (Lil Surfers) league players. New age group changes, upcoming World Cup 2026 and Surf’s competitive reputation are driving momentum - it's a great time to Join Our Movement!

If you missed the official tryout period for Zone 1, we have limited roster spots available. Players can join open practices for evaluation by registering for a tryout and you can also email me at ChrisM@SCSurfSoccer.com for details.

Zone 2 Tryouts for players born between August 1, 2012 and July 31, 2017 begin Monday, February 23 followed by Zone 3 in April. All current San Clemente Surf Club players are encouraged to register now in AthleteOne for the upcoming 2026/27 season. New age group ranges, tryout schedule, and FAQs are posted on our website. Once registered, players will receive confirmation of their age group and tryout date. As a reminder all players must register for tryouts including Zones 2 & 3.

Many of our older club players are currently competing for their local high school teams. League games are free to the public and are a great way to show community support so I encourage you to check out the schedules of your favorite high school team(s)! See below as we recognize (3) Boys 2007/08 NPL players leading their teams at San Clemente High School (SCHS) and San Juan Hills High School (SJH).

Lil' Surfer Tuesday Clinics

New Schedule! Lil' Surfer Clinics have resumed at Jim Johnson from 2-2:45pm on Tuesdays.

We are adding a 2nd clinic 4-4:45pm at Tierra Grande Park (also) on Tuesdays in January. Clinics are open to the community as part of San Clemente Surf's #giveback.
