From transformative cleanup projects along Weaver Way and Beaver Ruin Creek to enhanced safety initiatives through the Gwinnett Safe Communities program, we’re making Gateway85 cleaner, safer and more attractive to businesses than ever before.
These efforts lay the groundwork for future improvements, including pedestrian-friendly trails and smarter infrastructure, while strengthening our community connections. A special thank you to Robert Michener and our incredible partner, Gibson Landscape, for leading these impactful projects!

Enhancing Weaver Way
Gateway85 is making strides along Weaver Way with extensive cleanup efforts, including trash pickup, curb and gutter cleaning, tree trimming, catch basin maintenance and edging across two miles. These initiatives are part of our ongoing commitment to safety, mobility and beautification throughout the district. By cleaning manholes and catch basins, we’re reducing the risk of flooding, keeping roads clear and enhancing traffic safety.

Revitalizing Beaver Ruin Creek
Cleanup is underway along Beaver Ruin Creek under Indian Trail Boulevard, where Gateway85 has already removed 170 50-gallon bags of trash—and counting! This project lays the groundwork for a future pedestrian trail, with Gwinnett County clearing land for this exciting community benefit. Your business can help Gateway85 improve safety across the district by participating in the Gwinnett Safe Communities program. This initiative allows property and business owners to connect their security camera feeds directly to the Gwinnett County Police Department using a FususCORE device, enhancing emergency response and preparedness.
Gateway85 CID will purchase and cover the installation costs and the first year’s subscription for one FususCORE Lite bundle, which supports up to four camera feeds. Funds are limited, so act now to contribute to a safer community. For more details, visit GwinnettSafeCommunities.org.
If you are interested in joining, please contact Robert Michener at robert@gateway85.com.

Written by Colleen Kiernan, Gateway85 CID
One month after President Trump’s second inauguration, the change in direction from the previous administration has been as dramatic as it has been fast. To date, President Trump has signed 65 executive orders. Two areas that Gateway85 CID is closely monitoring are tariffs and infrastructure funding.
As a major logistics and warehousing hub in metro Atlanta, with Amazon, UPS and Toyota standing as three of the CID’s largest employers, the impact of various tariffs proposed and imposed by President Trump could have far-reaching outcomes.

Tort reform, one of the most closely watched issues of the 2025 Georgia legislative session, is moving forward with Governor Brian Kemp’s backing. A tort is a civil wrong that causes harm to a person or their property, and reforming Georgia’s tort laws aims to lower insurance costs and create a more stable legal environment for businesses.
On February 11, 2025, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved Senate Bills 68 and 69, advancing a sweeping legislative package that includes liability limitations, new rules for calculating damages and restrictions on third-party legal funding. These changes are designed to address challenges businesses face, such as rising liability insurance costs.
Supported by the Governor, Lt. Governor and major business organizations, this initiative has gained momentum across the state. As members of the CID, we want to provide you with information on the tort reform issue as it will impact business.
