The December Edition | December 11, 2024

Welcome to the December Edition of the Comfort Connection!

December is a month that epitomizes the holiday season, so in recognition of that, we've gathered resources and personal stories to help you (and your loved ones) celebrate seasonal gratitude, love, and support for one another — and finding joy in the smallest things!
"How do you express gratitude in your daily life?

To me, it sometimes feels daunting. I'm reminded of hand-writing hundreds
of thank you cards after our wedding. Or making sure to eat every last bite on my plate so my grandma wouldn't think I was ungrateful for my meal.

But experts say it doesn't have to be that complicated..."

Monthly Spotlight: Gratitude

Did you know? Having an attitude of gratitude changes the molecular structure of the brain, keeps the gray matter functioning, and makes us healthier and happier. When you feel happiness, the central nervous system is affected. You are more peaceful, less reactive, and less resistant.
Now that’s a really cool way of taking care of your well-being as you go through not just the holiday season but the rest of your life....

Joke of the Month

Giving gratitude for...
The Gift of Sharing.
The old man placed an order for one hamburger, french fries, and a drink. He unwrapped the plain hamburger and carefully cut it in half, placing one half in front of his wife.
Then he carefully counted out the french fries, dividing them into two piles then neatly placed one pile in front of his wife. He took a sip of his drink, his wife took a sip and then set the cup down between them.
As he began to eat his few bites of the hamburger, the people around them were looking over and whispering.
Obviously, they were thinking 'That poor old couple all they can afford is one meal for the two of them.'
As the man began to eat his fries a young man came to the table and politely offered to buy another meal for the old couple. The old man said, they were just fine - they were used to sharing everything.
People closer to the table noticed the little old lady hadn't eaten a bite. She sat there watching her husband eat and occasionally taking turns sipping the drink.
Again, the young man came over and begged them to let him buy another meal for them. This time the old women said, "No, thank you, we are used to sharing everything."
Finally, as the old man finished and was wiping his face neatly with the napkin, the young man came over to the little old lady who had yet to eat a single bite of food and asked, "What is it you are waiting for?"
She answered, "The Teeth!"
