Cardinal Rigali to represent U.S. Catholic Church 
at World Eucharistic Congress in 2020
Cardinal Justin Rigali, who is now in residence in the Diocese of Knoxville, will represent the Catholic Church for the United States at the World Eucharistic Congress in Budapest, Hungary, next year. The appointment was made by Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. As preparation for the Congress, Bishop Richard F. Stika is inviting parishioners to participate in one hour of Eucharistic adoration tomorrow, Saturday, June 22, which marks the vigil of Corpus Christi. Parishes that have committed to adoration hours are St. Therese in Clinton, St. Mary in Oak Ridge, Our Lady of Fatima in Alcoa, the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul in Chattanooga, and the Divine Mercy Adoration Chapel at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Knoxville. Other parishes around the diocese offer perpetual adoration, so please check for other options. 
Bishop Stika ordains Griffith, Hernandez to diaconate
Bishop Richard F. Stika ordained Zachary Griffith and Alexander Hernandez to the transitional diaconate on Saturday, June 15, at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Knoxville. Ordination to the transitional diaconate is one of the final steps for seminarians studying for the priesthood. Click the image above to watch the Mass of ordination on the DioKnox TV YouTube channel.

Heart for the Pour to benefit Catholic Charities

Dr. Tom Neal was a speaker at the March 2019 Call to Love Marriage Conference sponsored by the Diocese of Knoxville's Office of Marriage Preparation and Enrichment. Dr. Neal is a professor of Spiritual Theology at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, La. The Office of Marriage Preparation and Enrichment now has a link to his talk on prayer for couples
MelchizeTrek offers wilderness experience for men discerning vocations
The MelchizeTrek is a weeklong backpacking trip in the Savage Gulf for young men ages 14-21 who are open to considering a priestly vocation. Daily activities will include Holy Mass, praying the Divine Office, and a Holy Hour. This year's MelchizeTrek will be June 29-July 6, with 5-7 miles of hiking per day on moderate-level trails.
