The piano begins and ends A New Brain, with songs by William Finn and book by him and James Lapine. In-between is a whirlwind of everything that makes Finn so incredible. The extremes of any artist's existence—the agony and the joy of creating, the reality of being mortal—come to a head when the protagonist is looking death straight-on. Nearly the entire performance is sung, and every character is truly spectular. This revival of a semi-autobiographical musical is another of the season's must-sees. More info
