New Alumni Board Chair, EMBA nonprofit scholarship, and more
Note from the Dean
Spring is in full bloom and the excitement on campus is building as we look forward to an in-person commencement. Earlier this month, we celebrated the beginning of our construction project with a groundbreaking ceremony. I was honored to stand alongside the Chancellor to thank the Owen Century Partners and acknowledge the team of people working to push our project forward.
This spring we also gained ground in the ranking season with Top 25 rankings by 3 different organizations, including 23rd in U.S. News and World Report’s 2022 Best Graduate Rankings. Read more about our success in the rankings roundup. It is a privilege to lead the Owen School as we continue to grow from the humble beginnings in a former mortuary 50 years ago to a top 25 business school with a robust portfolio of business education programs.

Best,
Eric

Retirement of Professor Bart Victor
With deep gratitude and some bittersweet sadness, we share the announcement of the retirement of Dr. Bart Victor, former Cal Turner Professor of Moral Leadership. Bart has served with great conviction as the founding Faculty Director of the Turner Family Center for Social Ventures (TFC) since its founding in 2015, and since its origins in the Project Pyramid interdisciplinary international consulting course beginning in 2007, which he has taught for the past 16 years. Read the TFC's tribute to Bart’s leadership and legacy — as well as a call for alumni to share memories — here.
Thank You For a Successful Giving Day!
More than 700 members of the Owen community came together on Vanderbilt’s Annual Giving Day on April 7 to donate more than $246,500 to help advance Owen’s mission of providing a world-class business education on a personal scale. Donors supported things like scholarships, the Management Hall addition and renovation, and the Owen Annual Fund which has an immediate impact on the areas of greatest need at Owen.

The totals included 2 challenge gifts that were unlocked throughout the day. Professor Bill Christie matched the first $10,000 of gifts to Owen and the Owen Alumni Board matched the next $91,000. Thank you to our generous match donors for giving others the opportunity to multiply the impact of their donation.

The Class of 2021 also shined during Giving Day. The participating programs — the EMBA, MBA, MAcc, MSF, and MMHC Classes of 2021 — had over 250 donors and raised more than $7,500. We are so grateful and proud of the impact the Class of 2021 has made.

Thanks to the generosity of the entire Owen Community for making this the best Giving Day in the history of Owen! We asked you to support the students, faculty, and future of Owen, and the Owen Community answered the call. Thank you to everyone who participated.
